The needle stimulates the body, the body stimulates the mind, and the mind stimulates healing.
ACUPUNCTURE
Traditional Chinese Medicine is an ancient system of healthcare that has been studied and practiced for over 4,000 years to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease.
TCM Fundamentals:
-
The body's vital energy, called qi (pronounced chi), flows along specific channels or meridians.
-
Qi is comprised of yin and yang energy.
-
If the qi is balanced then the person has spiritual, emotional, and physical health.
-
When the qi isn't in balance, disease may occur. Qi can be blocked, causing unbalance between the yin and yang.
Acupuncture is part of the ancient practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), in addition to many additional treatments we use to create harmony between yin and yang & help restore correct flow of energy through the meridians.
Acupuncture involves inserting small, thin needles at various points along the body’s meridians, gently manipulating them with heat or electrical pulses to balance the energy within. The human body is believed to have meridians―invisible energy channels running throughout the body. Along these channels are more than 1,000 acupressure points that can be stimulated to balance the body’s energy levels. Qi, pronounced “chee,” is the life energy that courses through the body. Paul Kempisty, licensed acupuncturist with a MS in traditional Oriental medicine, explains, “[Acupuncture is] a minimally invasive method to stimulate nerve-rich areas of the skin surface in order to influence tissues, gland, organs, and various functions of the body".
WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE
"Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities. They may promote physical and emotional well-being" according to John Hopkins Medicine.
